According to the Bible, the first person ever to die was murdered. By his own brother. I wonder if there's any symbolism in that? Does it have anything to do with the way the world is now?

Interesting...
Not sure...
I'm not religious so I'm probably not the best person to ask.
But if god is all good and pure than how can he create someone or something who's going to be evil or inpure?
Everyone claims he (or she) is omnipotent, meaing he is all powerful and he's all knowing. But if he's all knowing and good/compassionate how can he create people who he knows will murder and go to hell?
That was a little off topic, sorry. But I just recently wrote a 6 page paper on certain aspects of religion (for my world cultures class, I got a 100 on it!!), and for a part of it I wrote about some of the paradoxes in religion.(I also wrote about the various functions of religion in society, the importence of faith, and differences between more commonly practiced religion and those that have bsically become extinct. So if you have any questions about those I can help you!
He created us with free will, and he loves us. Even if we murder, if we turn back to Him and ask for forgiveness then He will accept us.
Remember the night that Jesus died? There were two thieves who were crucified with him. One of which repented, one of which did not. The one who repented, from what Jesus himself said, we can assume is in Paradise with Jesus. If Jesus, who is God, can forgive the thief (who we do not know the crimes of), then who is to say that he does not forgive us?
-----
He created us with free will: we can choose whether to go astray or stay on the path of goodness. I don't know everything about Him, I don't pretend to (I sure hope it doesn't come across that way), and I'm still learning, but from what I do know, it sounds like He loves us no matter what.
Pope John Paul II was nearly assassinated, right? The guy wanted to kill him, yet the Pope went to him and forgave him his sins.
If the head of the Church, who is a direct successor of Peter himself, can forgive the man who attempted to murder him, then God can forgive anyone.
Only those who truly turn their back on Him will go to Hell. Only those who do not repent and do not feel guilt for their sins will go to Hell.

Did I ramble too much? I tend to get lost in my own speeches. -_-;;
mmm...that is interesting. coicidence or not?!? i'm not sure.

ok, we've got onto the topic of religion again. except, my question wasn't "do we have free choice?" or "will we be forgiven?", though those are both interesting discussions. i was simply wondering whether the murder that took place at the dawn of mankind was forshadowing our future existance. that's all. because there seems to be a whole lot of murderers now. i once heard that many of the actions of the first people to be created were set into our genes, and have become characteristics for the rest of mankind. some would call it human nature. and it fascinates me.
Why dont youlikemy pictures? 0_0?
They are butious. BTW its Emoninjabunnie. and i do think it has some thing to relate with the way the world is now? Have you read city of bones?
thats one of thoes things that is hard to understand..
hey.I posted something you might be intested in...come check it out.
If you really study the bible then you will know that the first real death was the innocent, pure lamb that clothed Adam and Eve and made atonement for their sin. God did that. Now that was in Genesis, look in the new testament and you will find that Jesus was the "Agnus qui tollis pecatna mundi" latin for "the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"
G.R I know thats not what you were looking for either but I find that very interesting.
But to really answer you question, yes I do believe so. The Lord said that in the last days that "Brother will turn against brother and father to his child" [I don't remember where in Mark that is but i just read it]
I believe that we are in those last days
and if you ask my mom she'll say that if we shaved Hillary Clinton's head that we would find 666, the mark of the beast, on her head!! haha
so yes it is very much appart of our world today and since around 6,ooo B.C.
Asia
asia, i'm not really sure what the lamb thingy has to do with the first human death.
i know =[ thats the story of cain and abel. i think that is so sad.but as i was reading it i thought..."i wonder what it was like to be the first person to be in heaven"
I'm not really religous, but here's what I think:
Maybe it symbolizes that people will never be able to really be at peace, and then violence will always exist in some way shape or form, and no matter how hard we try, wolrd peace will always be just out of reach.
well i am an atheist so all i can say is that people back then must have been REALLY morbid
Back then people were difitely morbid. But they had a reason to be. The death rates were extremly high.
People have mentioned God gibing us free will. But god is omniprescent, so he knows EVERYTHING we are ever going to do. Apparently, he knows all that has happened and that will ever happened. So how can we have free will if he knows everything that we're going to do already?
If god created everything in the universe than were did god come from? Someone or something had to have created him.
eek! spelling mistakes! I meant definitely and giving not gibing. Sorry!
like i said gr it isnt what you were looking for! did you even read it?
but i had recently read that and was fasenated
i mean you cant tell me that that was a coincidence
but i did answer your question at the end- well in my opinion that is
